Innovative platform streamlines rare single-cell enrichment, characterization and retrieval
Celsee Diagnostics, an innovator of cutting-edge microfluidic products for rare cell capture, characterization and retrieval, announced today that they are demonstrating their latest innovation, Celsee PREP SingleCell at the AACR Annual Meeting 2017.
Single-cell analysis is used in a vast array of life science disciplines and enables drilldown studies on individual cells to examine their heterogeneity. To date, cost of instrumentation, workflow complexity, capture efficiency and retrieval of viable cells has kept the technique from going mainstream. The simplified Celsee PREP SingleCell platform is designed as an economical, efficient and streamlined method for capturing and retrieving viable single cells that virtually any laboratory can adopt.
The patented microfluidic chip contains hundreds of thousands of nanowells. The workflow starts by pipetting a small volume of a heterogeneous cell suspension over the nanowells in the chip. The solution spreads, depositing cells into their own individual wells. Since deposited cells are trapped in their own individual nanowell, select cells can then be retrieved from the device using the Celsee SingleCell Retriever or other cellular micromanipulator.
“We have streamlined the workflow allowing cell capture, staining and pickup from the same slide. This reduces cell loss and has been shown to have almost 100 percent capture rate in spiked-cell experiments,” said Kalyan Handique, President and CEO of Celsee Diagnostics.
Information can be gathered on individual cells’ morphology or biomarker content by performing immunochemistry, DNA FISH, mRNA Fish or live cell staining directly on-chip, or single cells can be retrieved for downstream processing such as NGS, PCR, culture or cryopreservation.
